Today is a sunday.. an ordinary one unless you want to add that today people are celebrating the festival of HOLI throughout India. Celebrations would have begun yesterday with the "supermoon" the Full Moon marking the advent of poornima, also its special because moon has been spotted closest to earth.
i can hear my hostel inmates reveling in the spirit of colours ( oh no not literally) iam not excited at all. i do not see any fun in getting drenched in coloured, muddy water and people finding an excuse in the festival to drag victims in public and smear them with colours, with scores of hands meandering all over their bodies.
but am no one to comment about how one should lead one's life. i would be happy if they left the other not-so-enthusiastic people alone.
today also happens to be day India plays West Indies in the ongoing ICC- Cricket World Cup. now thats something to be excited about if you are an Indian and a fan of the game.
All said and said alone wont change anything in the life of millions staying around the world. Nor would it anyways matter to thousands of people affected by the recent tsunami in Japan. Nor others staying in the streets of India, or others in dingy apartments in a very opulent city bangalore struggling to make two ends meet.
Yet, these festivals offer an excuse to forget your worries and give yourself an ephemeral joy. Happy Holi to all those who cares about this festival and who dont, never mind...
